A disused and overgrown woodland site has been transformed by  local people young and old over the last 18month. They  put in over 900 volunteers hours to clear 8m high laurels, leaving  half the site as a level open area with mature trees and returning native flora and fauna. Local fundraising has provided  fencing and a path which is wide and strong enough to take wheelchairs from the local Chrildren's Hospital . The park is  a natural play area which will have wooden play featurers  allowing children to use the space in their own way with opportunities to climb, run, dig and balance. Native trees and shrubs have been planted to screen the fences and a Jubilee Oak has pride of place . This autumn local school children planted 1000 bluebells.
