The Gilbertson Park is situated in the centre of Shetland's main town of Lerwick. Within the park boundary is an indoor sports hall and changing facilities for the adjacent grass football pitch. There is disabled access into the park and the sports hall plus two separate disabled parking areas for disabled spectators. The pitch is the primary venue for football inter-county matches and local cup finals for all age groups, but the park is used by sports groups and the community as a whole for various other activities such as athletics, school sports, galas, walking, and cycling. There are also numerous seating areas and paths within the area which are regularly used by visitors.
