Walkers Heath Park (formaly Playing Fields) is a 50 acrea site that sits between to heavly populated communities in Brandwood and Kings Norton in the South West of Birmingham. In its heyday the site had a number of football, rugby pitches, tennis and net ball courts, a 16 piece Trim Trail, a long jump pit, shot putting circle and a 9 hole mini golf course. All of these were served by a large two storey changing pavilion. In the early 1980's the site slowly slipped into disuse following the loss of the changing facilities and has remained as green open field since then. The access to the park is in poor condition and there is no disabled access at the present time. However, this year, a group of residents formed a friends of the park group and have worked together to apply for  funding to make improvements and to restore some of the sports facilities and play areas. In May this year the group held a 'Community Games' over 300 local families turn out, despite the cold and wet conditions, to access a range of sporting and cultural activites. The group are now inspired to go on to make a real difference to the park for future generations.
