Hampden Park contains a diverse landscape of open fields, formal lawns, lakeside areas and semi-natural woodland. Sports fields are maintained for football, rugby and informal recreational use and are much favoured by dog walkers. The Rugby Club have two pavilions providing facilities for juniors and seniors. Community events take place at various times in the year. In the centre of the Park is an indoor bowls club and adjacent outdoor facility. A small arboretum forms an educational resource by the café. The northern section of the Park is dominated by the Decoy Pond, lawns and woodland. The water attracts swans, ducks, geese and some migratory species.
